Thormir Moonsight

Thormir Moonsight is a dwarf druid of The Unfated Ones, about four feet tall. Moonsight is an earned title associated with his ability to see moonstones beyond their usual lunar visibility, rather than an established hereditary surname.

He trained to succeed Moonstone's elder druid and spent ten years away studying. Returning to his devastated home, he found his parents dead. He carries a tooth from the destruction. A matching missing tooth later links the giant at Jimbo's farm to this trauma.

Otwic's apparition magically ages him thirty years, from forty to seventy, during the Aelmor crypt encounter. The aging is not reversed in the reviewed story. His memorial hammer, druidic magic and animal transformations help the group survive its travels. He also carries the much-loved crowbar Crowbarmir and rides Horsemir.

His green-and-gold mote becomes a miniature World Tree called Tree, or Little Tree. It can empower equipment and guide him; his summoned blue spectral badger Rend is a separate being. During Rory's first trial he refuses to harm the apparent forms of his friends and accepts the mote into himself.

Thormir's curiosity also causes trouble: he helps grow Mini Malcius, participates in the stolen-bean fruit-tree incident and joins Todd in thefts. In Pendilor he transfers the +2 Oakenshield into his own name, visits the Stuffed Hog and later attracts a jeweler's attention with a House Mero garnet.
